This morning (June 21), Korean press posted an information targeted HYBE (formerly Big Hit) and their subsidiary, Weverse Company. Accordingly, HYBE has been criticized for constantly delaying in sending goods that fans have ordered on Weverse Shop, even in some cases, more than 1 year has passed but fans still have not received the goods, despite having paid in full.
Specifically, an international fan of BTS (temporarily called “A”) signed up for this boy group’s paid membership package on Weverse Shop on January 22, 2020. A also signed up for a Welcome Kit. , is offered exclusively to paid fanclub members on Weverse, and shipping has also been paid in full. However, even though more than 1 year has passed, A still has not received the Welcome Kit that she has registered.
According to the Korea Consumer Agency, between January of last year and May of this year, it received a total of 13 complaints related to Weverse Company. These complaints come from consumers from various countries outside of Korea. By country and region alone, there are 7 cases from Taiwanese consumers, 4 cases from Europe, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
This is not the first time Weverse has angered fans with its slow and problematic way of working. Earlier this year, the Seoul city council said that in less than a year, it had received a total of 132 cases of consumer damage advice related to Weverse Shop.
